Volunteer Weekend

Volunteer and be a Buffalo Farmer for a Day (or two) at Pitcher Mountain Farm

Help Regenerate the Land and Build for the Future! Join us for a hands-on Volunteer Day at Pitcher Mountain Farm. The bison and Scottish Highlanders await your presence. Learn how you can make a real impact in regenerating the land and supporting sustainable farming practices. This event is a great opportunity for community members to come together and contribute to the ongoing work of preserving the environment, caring for the animals, and building a more sustainable future for our farm.

Event Highlights Include:

  • Learn about Holistic Roots and its mission to offer experiential opportunities for the community and vision for the future.

  • Introduction to Regenerative Farming: Learn about the regenerative farming practices we use to restore soil health, promote biodiversity, and maintain a balanced ecosystem. Discover how buffalo is a keystone species and how grazing and other sustainable practices are helping to revitalize the land and combat climate change.

  • Brush Clearing for New Fences: One of the key tasks for the day will be clearing brush to make way for new fencing. This work is essential for ensuring our bison and cattle have safe, secure pastures while also protecting the land from overgrazing. Clearing brush will help us create new spaces for rotational grazing, a vital component of our regenerative farming efforts.

  • Community Round-Table Discussion: We want to hear your ideas, questions and thoughts. The mission of Holistic Roots is to serve its community! We NEED your help!

  • Farm-to-Table Lunch: As a volunteer, you will enjoy a delicious buffalo lunch from our covered wagon. This is a great opportunity to taste the results of sustainable farming practices and connect with others who share a passion for environmental stewardship.

  • Continued Community Involvement: We love this community connection and providing a place and space for all of you to come and enjoy! We need you to be part of the team! Learn how to get involved.
